Community Impact: UNLV PGA Students Volunteer 1000 Hours Each Semester

UNLV’s Center for Golf Management emphasizes teaching, research and service. The Center is home to the PGA Golf Management University Program established in 2002 to develop students to become PGA Professionals in the growing and diversifying golf industry.

Our Center engages in golf performance research, and product validation. We enjoy collaborations with UNLV’s Department of Kinesiology, and UNLV Athletics. We also work with The University of Syracuse and Penn State University in using machine learning data analytics to help understand the complexities of golf biomechanics as it relates to performance measures.

Our PGA Students have recently been placed at notable clubs around the globe including but not limited to:
Medinah Country Club
Olympic Club
Sahalee Country Club – KPMG LPGA Championship Host 2024

Our students commit to 1000 hours of community service each semester. We recently partnered with The Shriners Children’s Open to lead all merchandise concessions. Students were able to participate in the buying, merchandising, and operation of our local PGA Tour Event.

Our PGA program experiences strong interest, up by 30% since 2021. Meanwhile, 50% of our student population are either from diverse backgrounds or female, quite a contrast and a welcomed shift to the current demographics of PGA members who account for 10% of the same population.
